Just finished up Peter Brown's excellent biography of St. Augustine of Hippo, two weeks late for my seminar final project. Regardless, it was a welcome read, and in the passing of the years since its 1967 publish date Professor Brown seems to have toned down his portrait of Augustine the Incorrigible Authoritarian. Alas, I do not have the most recent edition.
